Special Programs of the Chamber of Commerce

Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies - The Chamber will organize an "official" ribbon cutting ceremony to announce the opening of any new business, regardless of whether they are a member of the Chamber or not. We will notify local officials, directors of the Chamber of Commerce, and local media of the ceremony, and then will attend with a ribbon and the ceremonial scissors. Through the cooperation of the local media, the business will receive recognition of the event on the radio and in the newspaper.

Home for the Holidays Parade - The Chamber of Commerce serves as the coordinating body for this annual parade, which has been sponsored by local businesses since 1991.

Groundhog Day & Punxsutawney Phil - The Chamber is the information center during Groundhog Day and throughout the year. On a daily basis, we process requests for information about Groundhog Day, the legend, the summer Groundhog Festival, and tourist attractions in our area.

Punxsutawney Phil's Official Souvenirs - The Chamber of Commerce hosts the official store for Punxsutawney Phil souvenirs. The store is a joint venture between the Chamber and the Groundhog Festival Committee.

Holiday Lights and Community Banners - The Chamber, with the help of many volunteers, is responsible for maintenance of the holiday snowflake lights and community banners that beautify our town.

Punxsutawney Area Gift Certificates - Gift certificates good at over 100 participating local Chamber member businesses are available at the Chamber office and on-line at www.certifichecks.com. These gift certificates not only give the gift of choice, but also help support the local community.

Phantastic Phils! Public Art Project - Designed to promote our community's famous weather-predicting groundhog and attract visitors to town, 32 larger-than-life Phantastic Phils now grace our streets, business areas, and public places. Each Phantastic Phil! is creatively designed by artists from around the region. This is a project of the Chamber of Commerce. Legislative Breakfasts - To give our members a chance to ask questions and interact with our state and U.S. legislators, twice a year the Chamber of Commerce hosts a breakfast featuring our state and federal representatives as guest speaker.
